BEATING THE CRUNCH » 03/11/08

In the financially austere times, mobile phone sales remains robust.
New generation handsets from Nokia with the N96, Sony Ericsson
music phone W980, Apple 3G iphone and an array of fresh looking
handsets from Samsung and LG has kept interest high in new
mobile technology as users get to grips with the feature busting
specifications of these new bright, sleek products.
Both Orange and T-Mobile report better than expected sales, with
an increased number buying online. The mobile market shows no
sign of diminishing, but there is a shift from discounting handsets
to sign up new customers, to providing improved tariff packages to
existing ones and using the new handset as the marketing tool.

The
3G handset is geared up to see record sales on the back of the
run in to Christmas. The next step for mobiles is easier internet browsing and location
derived software in 2009. The technology never stops.

SCARLETS COMMUNITY PARTNERS » 06/05/08

Link Telecom became Llanelli Rugby Club’s first ever Community Programme Partner, managing Director Gary Fawcett signing the six-figure, two year deal in 2007. Llanelli, known affectionately as the ‘Scarlets’, will be able, through this generous business sponsorship, to create and develop sporting links with schools throughout Wales.
This initiative forms a major part of the region’s extensive community programme partnership scheme, which creates mutual links between business and the local community. It is also very much in line with Link Telecom’s own ethos of developing meaningful business and education partnerships, at every opportunity.
‘Scarlets’ Commercial Director Gareth Davies said: ‘Link Telecom is a large nationwide presence in the telecoms industry. They have a track record of supporting community causes as well. It is particularly pleasing to be attracting such a big name to work with us in such an important area. I strongly believe our community work is crucial both in terms of reaching our audience, across a very large geographical area and in terms of getting to the hearts and minds of young fans’.
The scheme will include over 100 player appearances during the season and include a repeat of the very successful ‘Scarlets on the Road’ scheme, instigated the previous season. The ‘Scarlets’ community scheme will see all the primary and secondary schools in Llanelli receive a visit, as well as schools in the Amman Valley.
Further a field, schools in Carmarthen, Llandovery, Aberystwyth, Narberth, Haverfordwest and Pembroke will also benefit from the ‘Scarlets’ involvement and club mascot ‘Cochyn’ will also be making numerous appearances.
Link Telecom managing director Gary Fawcett said; ‘Wales is an important growth area and we are delighted to enter into a sponsorship deal with Llanelli ‘Scarlets’, which will help raise both our presence, and profile, across the region.’
