GOOGLES MOBILE OS » 31/10/08

We’re at something of a confluence with regards to Operating Systems for mobile devices. Prior to now there have been many versions of Symbian’s OS, which has dominated the market, with Microsoft and Linux also leading the way with regards to smartphones. The GUI (Graphics user interface) has also conveyed the basic nature of the phones due to the low-resolution screens on most devices.
Google’s latest Open Source innovation, Android, is not the Google-Phone that was expected by many rather it is an OS that they hope will be installed onto ‘thousands of different phone models’ in the future.

THE USE OF WIDGETS & MULTIPLE DESKTOPS IS VERY REMINISCENT OF THE IPHONE...

A quick search on youtube and you can quickly see the OS in action on a variety of different devices. Google is very serious about the future of this product and has already set Android developer challenges with prizes totaling $10mn for the most innovative.
